ABSTRACT
O debate sobre os cuidados domésticos transnacionais nunca esteve tão presente na sociedade global contemporânea como agora. Após a crise sanitária impulsionada pela Covid-19, o cenário dos cuidados com idosos e pessoas dependentes ao redor do mundo tem sido parte do debate sobre a migração. Por conseguinte, assiste-se de igual modo a precarização desse setor laboral. A degradação das condições de vida e trabalho e a si-tuação de vulnerabilidade social experienciadas pelas mulheres migrantes estão no centro do debate dos estudos populacionais.Nesta empreitada, o livro Migration and domestic work, publicado em 2022 pela editora Springer, que recebeu financiamento do European Research Council (ERC) European Union's Horizon 2020, em pesquisa realizada pelo Innovation Program (DomEQUAL),1 oferece uma visão geral sistemática, rica e transparente do debate internacional sobre a importância do trabalho doméstico e do trabalho de cuidado remunerados nas migrações contemporâ-neas, tal como ele tomou forma nos últimos 20 anos. Como pode ser observado em suas páginas, o emprego de mulheres migrantes no trabalho doméstico de cuidados e limpeza é um exemplo paradigmático das fortes interligações entre os fenômenos relacionados ao gênero, ao trabalho e à migração, nos níveis individual e coletivo.
The debate about transnational domestic care has never been more present in contemporary global society than it is now. After the health crisis driven by Covid-19, the scenario of care for the elderly and dependent people around the world has been part of the debate on migration. Therefore, we are also witnessing the precariousness of this labor sector. The degradation of living and working conditions and the situation of social vulnerability experienced by migrant women are at the center of the debate in population studies. In this endeavor, the book Migration and domestic work, published in 2022 by Springer, which received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) European Union's Horizon 2020, in research carried out by the Innovation Program (DomEQUAL),1 offers a systematic, rich and transparent overview of the international debate on the importance of paid domestic work and care work in contemporary migration. neas, as it has taken shape over the last 20 years.
